Stronger than you think
I’d written this song a few years ago, and a talented musician friend engineered and recorded it for me. Hopefully, the lyrics aren’t too specific, and can be interpreted to mean something to you. I played keyboard and sang vocals, the drums were provided by Mark Jonathan Staton, with additional guitar by Damion Pickup. The engineering and mixing was by Marcus McInerney. Enjoy!
Lyrics
Heavy weather makes a heavy heart, and hearts can bleed right through
You want to write something beautiful - you want to write something true
Down the hall, behind the wall, she left a secret in a book
At any rate, no such thing as too late
When it seems like we’re always on the brink, that’s when you know: you’re stronger than you think.
In the dark you will travel deep, in the light it’s crystal clear
She gave us everything - she wrote it down, the clues have led us here
Under the floor, a secret door
All we need to do is keep the faith
So crack the code, find the motherlode
When it seems like we’re always on the brink, that’s when you know: you’re stronger than you think.
You’re stronger than you think
First light on a wooden door, morning mist on glass
Shrug off the night like some old rags
You can barely believe that it’s passed
So step outside, I know you’re bleary-eyed
And she’ll fade like a shadow in the sun
The way is clear cos she has brought us here
And you know that you’ll never fear the brink - because today you’re stronger than you think.
